Bubble bomb Experiment

Learning Intention:
W.a.l.t to conduct, observe and record experiments

Hypothesis/Prediction: (What do you think will happen?)
I think that it might explode.
Equipment/Materials Needed:
Vinegar
Baking soda
Paper towel
Zip lock bag
Method/Steps:
1. Put a table spoon of baking soda inside a paper towel and fold it up into a square. This is your ‘time release’ packet.
2. Pour into your plastic bag: 1/2 cup of vinegar and 1/4 cup of warm water.
3. Carefully put the time release packet into your zip lock bag without it dropping in the vinegar before you can close the bag.
4. Close the bag.
5. Give the bag a shake.
Results (What happened?):
First the bag filled up with gas. Then the bag filled up with bubbles. After  that it started swelling up and then it exploded!!!
Summary Statement/Conclusion:
(Was your prediction right or wrong? Why?
What did this experiment/your results tell you?)
The experiment was a chemical change. My prediction was right because when I read that it was a bubble bomb I realised straight away that it would explode.

Advice letter

Dear Sophie, my best friend in the whole, wide world
You are so amazing when you are handling  your awesome inventions. I  love being your assistant and I’m happy that you and your family chose me as your pet. Remember the time when you created  the most magnificent invention. You know you are terrific at inventing. You can make this and this and this and nearly anything else. Using your brain helps you a lot. That’s what me and you do right? All the things we do are hammer and tinker and screw and push and heave and build. You and me are total genius. There is nothing so boring that we make. I think when we grow up we should  be scientists and we are going to become brainiacs.
When you are sad or frustrated  you make me really sad because you are my friend and your thoughts are my thoughts.  When you made the magnificent thing, you see you hurt yourself badly and when you get mad like that you make things go worse for you. Only you and no one else. Next time you should ask me to get my leash and we could go on a walk and even better we could get ice-cream or you could take just a 10 minute break and this
time we could get ice blocks out of the fridge.
I hope my advice helps you a lot because your my owner and your BFF!!!!! Also we could actually get ice-cream or ice blocks.
From your bestie,
Your little puppy assistant.

This week we read The Most Magnificent Thing. We wrote a letter to the girl as if we were the assistant dog.
